one pint of blood can save upto three lives. Its a remarkable contribution towards the society.put your step forward in this noble task.your initiative can save a precious life.
facts about blood:
- Blood makes up about 7 percent of your body's weight
- Donors can give either whole blood or specific blood components only. The process of donating specific blood components – red cells, plasma or platelets – is called apheresis.
- Donated platelets must be used within five days of collection.
- Healthy bone marrow makes a constant supply of red cells, plasma and platelets. The body will replenish the elements given during a blood donation – some in a matter of hours and others in a matter of weeks.

Post donation care:
- Drink plenty of fluids.
- No extra diet is required.
- Rest for 10-15 min. after donation.
- Do not lift heavy objects for few hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hrs.
- If bleeding starts again press firmly on that area and raise the arm above the level of heart.
